Turkish Airlines said it will wet lease three Airbus A330s to fill capacity shortage. The carrier confirmed to ATW it will lease one aircraft from Meridiana Fly between Jan. 15 and Nov. 15; and two aircraft from Hi Fly between April 1 and March 31, 2014, and from May 1 and April 30, 2014.
CEO Temel Kotil told ATW earlier the carrier is facing “a lack of five long-haul aircraft” and is “talking with lessors regarding additional Airbus A330s or Boeing 777s.”
Turkish Airlines, which will soon announce the re-launch of its high standard catering product, will postpone extending its comfort class service—a premium economy class—on new, to-be delivered long-haul aircraft. For now, the comfort class on long-haul flights will remain onboard its 12 777-300ERs.
